TypeError Message while Previewing Scenes
Aug 16, 2013
I am experiencing an error in Articulate Storyline, where I get the error message below in a popup window whenever I try to preview any scene in my presentation.
TypeError: Error #1006: disposeXML is not a function.
at com.articulate.bw.v2_0::bwSlide/RemoveAppendedNodes()
at com.articulate.bw.v2_0::bwSlide/KillSlideDisplay()
at com.articulate.bw.v2_0::bwSlide/HideSlide()
at com.articulate.bw.v2_0::bwSlide/NotifySlideTransitionInComplete()
at com.articulate.bw.v2_0::bwSlide/AnimationComplete()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEventFunction()
at flash.events::EventDispatcher/dispatchEvent()
at com.articulate.bw.v2_0::bwAnimation/StepAnimation()
In addition, this message occurs on every slide in the scene where I have placed animations, and my animations do not function, although they do function if I preview each slide in the scene individually.
The error even occurs in one or two slides where this no animation. Based on the above, I believe it may be related to navigational issues. But perhaps someone who speaks scriptspeak can help me based on what I have presented here? Any aid appreciated greatly.

Hi Pat and welcome to Heroes!
Would you be able to submit your .story file to our team by opening a Support Case?
Case submitted with uploaded ZIP file. Thanks, Ashley!
Thanks Pat - I see Jayem already replied with instructions on how to repair your Storyline software and to ensure you're working locally. If you continue to have difficulty please feel free to let Jayem or myself know.
I followed Jayem's instructions to the letter, including uninstalling and re-installing AS. I even disabled my virus-protection software during installation as instructed.
I am (and have always) working from my C: drive. I still get the ActionScript error as shown in my initial post. This occurs for every slide where animation is supposed to occur, and not only does the animation not occur on slides where the error message appears (pretty much any slide involving animation), but the images marked for animation don't even appear.
What else can we do?

Thanks Pat, I see Jayem sent some additional instructions last night that I think will help.
Solved the issue myself. The answer was to uninstall and re-install Flash.
You Articulate Storyline wizards may wish to file this one away for similar issues that come up.

Thanks Pat for the update - whatever works, right? I'll keep this one in mind for similar problems. Thanks!
