Unable to add new hyperlinks

Jun 01, 2015

Good day. I'm going on my 3rd week using Articulate Storyline 2. So far, so good except...I ran into a major problem this afternoon! My project is an interactive survey for an upcoming trade show, so I cannot share the file. Here's a little background: one particular slide has 3 layers riding on top, with each layer demonstrating things about the base layer. Each layer has its own buttons and interactive elements, such as sliders, drop zones, audio, state changes, etc.

On the final layer, I have 5 shape-buttons that have links to separate slides, each one having a different result. The buttons have variables applied, such as state conditions and NumericEntry values. But in preview mode, the buttons provide no action whatsoever. I also placed these buttons on different slides and layers, but no go. I went further by trying to place other random buttons and they, too could not hyperlink to the appropriate destinations while other buttons already placed work fine.

Could my file be corrupt, or is there some built-in "button limitation" in AS2? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance!

Hi, Johan -

Without having to provide your file, there are few things you can check on your end to rule out some common issues. First, please ensure that you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline. Also, could you please ensure that you are utilizing the most recent SL2 Update? Info on Update 5 can be found here

Also, please be sure that you are testing your published output for functionality in the intended environment

Hello Christie. Thank you very much for your reply. I just went through all of your troubleshooting suggestions, but am still experiencing the same issue. (It's quite maddening as I'm sure the problem is most likely a simple one!!!)

Is there any way I could send my file to you privately for a quick check? My deadline is this Wednesday, so I'm calling in the experts! Again, many thanks for your help.
