Unable to convert a freeform question into a non-question slide

Sep 05, 2018

According to several places in the user guide, including this one: (https://community.articulate.com/series/storyline-3/articles/articulate-storyline-3-user-guide-how-to-create-freeform-pick-many-questions, I should be able to convert a freeform question into a non-question guide. However, this button is grayed out.  I know I must be doing something wrong but I am unable to figure it out.

Hi MaryAnne!

From your screenshot, it looks like you're using a built-in multiple choice question, and not a freeform quiz question. The "remove freeform" button will only work when you're using a freeform question type.

Can you tell me a little more about what you're looking to do with this question slide? There may be another way to go about it!

Hi MaryAnne.  Thanks for the screenshot!  I'm sorry we're going back and forth on this one a bit.  The Remove Freeform option should be active for you.  Is there any way that you can attach your .story file so we can have a look at why that option isn't appearing for you?

In my own test, I used a Pick One interaction with a Question slide layout, no feedback, and with radio buttons.  I had the Remove Freeform option active.  If we can compare against yours, hopefully we'll have some next ideas!

Thank you for your assistance. I can't find the file. I either deleted those slides or deleted the file. I worked days on this. I was trying to drag and drop the answers but have since given up and used regular MC and MR. If I have another instance where I want to use this instance. I will reply again with the story file. I will ultimately have hundreds of questions and may want to use the feature again in the very near future. I really appreciate the service the staff and the heroes provide.
