Unable to get template to work properly - Drag and Drop Matching Labels (Conflict of Interest)

Dec 08, 2020

I downloaded this template and tried to copy/paste it into my story file.  The alignment was off, I think due to the slide size. Also, I was unable to delete either the Heading or the picture.
To work around this, I copied and pasted items from the template - the text box, the hotspots, and the labels.
I still can't get it to work despite several attempts to correct the issue myself. the labels to not look like they are supposed to when dropped on the correct target. Can anyone suggest where I am going wrong?

The first slide is the template as posted on this site. The second slide is my version.

Thank you so much!

Hi Heather,

The reason you can't delete either the heading or the image is because they are both locked:

What you need to do is to click on the padlock next to the item to unlock it and then edit it to suit your needs. You will find the image at the bottom of the list if you scroll down.

The reason your labels look different is because you haven't got your states set up correctly for them. Compare the states for the labels in slide 1:

to those that you have set up in slide 2:

Looking at the preview of the two slides, the labels in slide 1 are using a white background (i.e. it matches the slide background exactly) and text that is correctly formatted to fill the available space, but in slide 2 you appear to have used a mix of backgrounds and have not used a large enough text box to contain your text without it wrapping onto a second line.

In order to ensure you get a background that is an exact match to your main text box background, select the label you want to edit, select Edit States, select your Drop Correct state, select Format on the top menu, select Shape Fill and then use the eyedropper tool to select the background colour in your main text box.

The final bit of the puzzle is to make sure that all of your labels fit on one line. If necessary, increase the size of the drop box to suit.

Hope this helps, but if you have any further queries, just get back to me here.
