I've tried several times to import my PowerPoint slides into Storyline and each time it imports blank slides. I have the PowerPoint slides saved as "powerPoint Presentation (*.pptx). I've successfully imported other presentations, however this one isn't letting me view the content after it is imported. The PowerPoint and Storyline have both been recently updated.
Welcome to the community, Peyton! You're in the right place for help 🌟and smart move on also opening a support case!
While our team tests your .pptx file, I have a few questions in the meantime:
Does the error Failed to Import PowerPoint Presentation appear upon import or does it only show you a blank project? If you encounter that notice, this article lists a few reasons why that may be occurring and solutions to get around it.
Sorry you ran into that error message. Are you able to import other PowerPoint files into Storyline 3? Is this the only one that gives you an error message?
With your permission, we can take a look at your PowerPoint file to investigate what's happening. We'll delete it when we're done troubleshooting. If that works for you, you can upload your file privately to our support team here. We'll try importing it into Storyline on our side let you know what we find!
We also had this issue today, could not import, kept getting error message but with this workaround it worked. Did not change any PPT settings by the way. Its a storyline bug.
Hi again, Gillian. I had just answered you here, and saw this post too! It sounds like you're having some inconsistent results with using the different import options to get your PowerPoint slides into Storyline 360.
I wasn't able to reproduce the error on my end using other import options, so I'd like us to have a closer look at your setup. Would you be able to work with our support team to find out why those error messages are happening? Thanks!
When I import a PowerPoint it is only importing the slide master information, none of the text, or graphics are getting imported. I am importing from my hard drive not from a server. I had this problem before and to fix it, IT had to uninstall and reinstall Articulate 360; this is not a good thing. Is somethin else going on that could be causing this?
Sorry to hear that you've run into difficulty with your PowerPoint import.
It sounds like you are not getting an error, just not seeing the expected results?
With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your .ppt file to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
I cannot upload the file, it is very large and the private link times out. Maybe that is the problem. I am going to try again and only upload a few files at a time. The PowerPoint has embedded videos, so maybe that is the problem too.

I was able to zip the file, but even that doesn't upload, I get an error connection lost. I thought the problem might have been the embedded videos but when I try to import all but those it still doesn't bring in the text.
I receive a message Missing Fonts - I tried looking for that font and don't see it in the styles so I can't remove it.

I have this same issue. I have the latest 360 updates and the latest updates from Office 365 installed. I tried the client's pptx files, and even a blank one I made myself -- to no avail. It's causing me to re-build slides piece by piece, which is prolonging the dev cycle greatly.
Hi there, Stephen. We're happy to help. If you're able to share your example PPT file, I will test it to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting. Just let me know if you have PowerPoint 2016 or 2019 installed on your desktop. Thanks!
Hello! I am having a similar issue. Full disclosure, we use Google Suite so I converted from Google Slides to Microsoft PowerPoint first. I have gone through the troubleshooting steps suggested through your help system. I have attached the PowerPoint I am attempting to import. Any help would be appreciated.
I was able to open your file in PPT and import it into Storyline 3 (you can also open it in Storyline 360) and I've uploaded it here for you to download.
If you're importing content from Powerpoint, you'll need to have that installed on your computer. You'll see this noted in the system requirements.
Let me know if you run into any trouble with that!
Thanks. I do have PowerPoint installed on my computer. I was downloading the Google Slides doc to a PowerPoint, then trying to convert it to Storyline. Unfortunately, this will need to be my process for all of our PowerPoint uploads. I am new to this company and all current content is in Google. Any suggestions to help me with this process?
Do you see any error messages or similar when trying to import that into Storyline? If you have Powerpoint installed and you've converted it and saved it there from a Google slide that should work. Can you check that you've saved the powerpoint file and closed out of it before trying to import?
The image you shared looks like you're importing a file from your F drive? That is likely the culprit, as within Storyline you'll want to use and link to local files (C:/ drive). Working from a network or shared drive is known to cause issues, ultimately leading to corruption.
I'd try saving that file locally and then going through the import process.
Thanks for letting us know that this worked previously. Have you tested a new file to see if it works as intended or are you running into difficulty with this single file?
Have you saved it to a different location on your C: Drive, even your desktop would work, to see if it works as expected? It looks like Ashley shared some information on corruption as well.
If you think Storyline is not performing as it should, I'd conduct a repair to see if that alleviates the issue.
I'd be happy to test importing your .ppt file for you as well if needed.
I am having similar problems importing my pptx presentation to storyline 360. I have tried different menu options to import - some suggested in this thread earlier but to no avail. I am working on my own laptop, I have windows 10 and checked for updates. I have just started the trial version - I assume this isn't why the import is not working? I have attached a photo of the error I am getting. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you.
Hi there, Siobhan. Thanks for sharing the screenshot. It looks like the file path includes OneDrive. If there is automatic syncing to your OneDrive account, it might be causing odd behavior similar to a network drive. Can you copy that PowerPoint presentation to a different folder on your desktop just to test?
Hi
Thank you for getting back to me, I managed to get the presentation imported into Articulate using a friends laptop. I think the issue may have been because I do not have MS Office installed locally on my laptop - I access what I need via the cloud? I am not sure. I am happy that I have something to work with.
Kind regards
Siobhán

Hi,
I have tried uploading PPTs (from local drive). However, it fails to import to articulate storyline.
I have purchased the licence last week only, PPT version is 2016. Kindly help resolve.

It's part of Office 365 -- no suffix in the app name that denotes 2016 or 2019.
I did find that it is: Version 1901 (Build 11231.20130)
I sent the PPTX via your link. Case 01702506

Hi,
I've been facing this issue just today. So far, I've always been importing slides and it worked fine.
I've run through everything mentioned here in this link.
I tried importing a single slide, even that doesn't work :(

Hi Ashley,
F drive is my local drive only. This issue has been occurring very recently. I've imported multiple slides earlier from the same drive.
Hi Jayashree,
Thanks for the additional information.
