Hi, I am unable to open a Storyline 360 project. it is saying that the project is being used by another process or that I do not have the access rights to open it. It has also said that it may have been created in an earlier version. It wasn't! The project is stored in my shared folder in a network drive along with all my other projects. I have the project in Review as well. Please can you help me.Many thanks. Linda Welch
The recommendation is not to work on Network drives as the latency can cause corruption. You may be able to get a backup from you IT people. Best to work locally.
Ok, thank you for this. Where is it best to store completed projects that will need updating in the future? At the moment I have a lot of work in my shared drive. Where should I put this for safety. I can't quite understand why I am unable to find this particular project in Storyline. Does it only store a number of projects? Thank you for your help.
Ok, but the issue is that I am unable to open this file from a network drive. So if when the project has been completed and is up and running, but then needs updating, I am unable to access it. Many thanks.
I suspect the file got corrupted the last time you worked on it via a network drive, it is saving on network drives that normally causes the problem.
Storing on a network drive after saving locally should not do anything. Your IT team should be able to restore a backup from the network drive before it was corrupted.
Ok, thank you for this. I will get onto them. So the process would be, create the document and then save to my desktop. Continue to work from desktop and publish from desktop. Then save to network drive and it should be ok. Is that correct. many thanks.

Linda,
I have the same issue on shared networks. Try copying and pasting the project onto your desktop and opening the file from there.
I typically save my projects on my desktop until they are complete.
Hi Dani, Thank you for this, apologies, I didn't see your reply until now. Good idea, I will try this.
I have tried this and i am getting the same message which is:
'This project is invalid or corrupt and cannot be opened. Tt may have been created in an earlier version of Storyline.'
I am worried that this may happen to other projects too. Many thanks. Linda

You can store them on Network drives, just when you are working on them, work locally.

That is what I would do.
Thats fantastic, thank you very much. I have also just checked with more experienced Storyline users and this is what they do. Kind regards Linda
