Unable to Preview or Publish

Mar 25, 2013

Hello all.

I have been working on a project using interactions (Text entry field)  in Storyline to allow users to enter an entry in a text field, submit to get a response and then at the end of the quiz see the results page as to their score. In the initial development (one page with a result page), the project worked. I published it and tested in a browser.

I then went and added the remained quiz questions and now the project will not preview nor publish. I have tried removing items in an effort to see what is causing this problem but nothing works. Even though I used a text entry field to enter numbers I tried a number entry field and got the same response. I have added a copy of my storyline project to this question to see if anyone could help to figure out what exactly I am doing incorrectly.

In not previewing or publishing I receive no error message which could point me as to what is causing the project to stop in both actions.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and ideas.

Hi Bruce, thanks for sharing the file.

I'm having the same difficulty as you. Initially, it looked there was something in Slide 2 causing the preview / publish to fail, but even after importing the story into a new project and deleting the slide, I was still stalling out.

Have you been working on the course exclusively from your local hard drive? Working on a network or USB drive can lead to corruption.

If you'd like, we'd be happy to take a closer look at it. Please submit a case, including your .story file, using this link so our support team can assist you further.

Thanks!

Hello Peter,

As per your suggestion, I have submitted a support case.

To answer your question, I have been working on the course exclusively from my local hard drive. I thought at some point that maybe my installed copy of Storyline may have been corrupted so I reinstalled the software, but I still get the same issue (not previewing or publishing). As noted the preview/publish stops at page 2. I have tried both a text and number interaction and no change.

Thanks for your support.

Hello Peter.

Just to provide an update. The issue (as indicated by an Articulate Engineer) was found in my feedback forms where I was using markers. The markers were preventing the Preview and the Publish option from completing. Once they were removed, I had no problems running both.

I have been told this will be addressed in the next update.

Thanks to all for the support I received.
