Understanding someone else's variables

Jan 21, 2016

I just inherited a project with several variables, but I am not sure what each variable does.  Is there a way to know exactly what each variable does?  I went to the "usage for variables" screen and that was no help.

As an example, there is a variable titled "slide4complete" and it is used in the following way: Jump to next slide when the user click the next button if Slide4Complete is equal to true.

There is no slide 4.

How can I figure out what it means?

Thanks!

Hi, Adam -- Thanks for your question! It may be most helpful if you would be able to share your file here so that others can take a look at your variables and help you figure out what they mean from there. Please use the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left of the reply box and browse/upload from there! :)

Also, I wanted to note, if there is sensitive or confidential material in your file, you can always remove it and use dummy content instead to illustrate the issue you are seeing. Just a thought!

Looks like the variable is used to ensure that the user has completed the page (variable "slide4complete" value "true") bevore he can jump to the next slide. Probably the user has to click several objects bevore then the variable is set to true which allows the usere to go to the next page.

In "usage for variables" you should be able to see the name of the page where the variable is used.
