Undo Button in SL

When can we expect a fix on this? This product has been around long enough for there to have been a fix already.

Really sorry for the frustration, Coline. Our engineers are still looking for ways to reproduce undo issues consistently in order to get a permanent fix in place. If you have an example of a course where you're able to reproduce the issue with consistency, our guys would love to take a look. Sorry again for the frustration. I'll update here whenever there's news to share. 

The problem for me happens for me when I have a drag and drop in it. Not always, but often enough that I noticed.

I would be working on other parts for the better part of a day and no problems. Then when I would come to the drag and drop it would start being flakey. I would switch to that slide, adjust some things, change a color, font, move one of the drags, decide I didn't like where it was, undo, and boom back to when I first clicked on the drag and drop slide.

Not always, but often.

I have 1 license installed on two identical machines. The UNDO only works on one of the machines. I've opened the story file on both machines and it only works on one. When I'm working in slide view and I click UNDO it takes me out of the slide view and back to story view, or sometimes to a different slide in an entirely different scene.  It can be very frustrating. Saving is not exactly a workaround because once you save, you can't undo.

As most know, it's a highly intermittent bug.  I wish I could find constancy with it to help out, but it's quite random.  I can open SL 20 times and have work fine and then BAM, it stops working.

I've tried it in a VM too and same results.

I'm using Win7 all around, but would be curious if the frequency increased or decreased w/ other OSs

Yeah, I hear ya. Looking at the team's notes on this, the inconsistency of it is causing the most trouble. They're still hard at work on it though, and they remain confident that they'll track it down.

I find undo most unreliable when I change a large number of objects at the same time, not sure if that helps much, but that's my experience.

Still no fix after close to 8 months from the first post of this thread!?!

I've only been a Storyline user for a few months now, but I think it's pretty clear that an improperly functioning UNDO button is NOT acceptable in a full commercial release. This software has been out for over a year now, right? And the UNDO button doesn't work!?! 

For me (and I suspect MANY others) this represents something close to a dealbreaker.

I'm fairly certain that, had I known that something as elemental as the UNDO functionality not working, I would have SERIOUSLY questioned the tool's reliability as a whole...and I would have given a LOT more thought to my purchase.

This needs to be fixed.

Immediately.

Not in another 8 months.

UNDO is basic, basic, basic functionality in essentially EVERY application known to man.

This should have never come out of Beta with this issue.

Very disappointed.

I, and others here, certainly understand your frustration. Storyline is less than one-year old and since its launch, we've released two hearty updates, both of which fixed many bugs, improved performance, and addressed feature requests sent in from our community. The most recent update can be found here.

Were working hard to ensure that the undo function becomes as reliable as the rest of the software, and we're confident we'll get there. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.

Hi Peter,  I am also experiencing the Undo issue.  I've only had Storyline for 3 weeks, and downloaded the program from the Articulate website.  I viewed your link above to view the update details,  but that update is from December 2012?

Is there a more recent update that contains the fix? Or, what is the current version of Storyline so I can check.

Sounds like you have the most recent update installed (Update 2: 1212.1412).

We'll be releasing Update 3 in the very near future, and that should also help stabilize the Undo feature.

I sincerely hope the undo bug is properly fixed with this release. It really is the bane of my working day and the cause of so much frustration.

It's such a shame that this flaw is getting in the way of what is otherwise a really great product.

No exact ETAs, but I know we're getting close, and I'm happy to report that we've put extensive work in on improving the undo feature. Make sure you've enabled the "Check for updates at startup" feature in Storyline to be notified when new updates get released.

Hi Matthew! Since you popped into an older thread, I assume that you are utilizing Storyline 1?

Are you utilizing the latest update? We fixed some functionality of the undo button in Update 5.
