Unique ID when publishing

Hi,
Is it possible to have SL to generate and display a unique code when publishing.
Like a variable that would be set at publish time and that we could display in a tiny field in the corner of the intro screen. Maybe it could be pulled from meta.xml or whatever.
We need this because sometimes it's impossible to know if the version online on our LMS is really the last one that was published (especially when you're given a project that was not yours from the start).
Any idea ?
Thanks.

I put a small text field in the upper-left corner of my title slide. Its NORMAL state has a few spaces (i.e., nothing visible). I give it a SELECTED state, and in that, I put the appropriate version info, along with the current date. I always revise the date before I publish the course.
In the published course, I know I can click that corner to verify the version. Yet learners will probably never see the SELECTED state, because there's nothing to indicate something is clickable in that corner. Even if they happen to notice their cursor change and they click that text box, all they see is the version & date info -- no big deal.
Of course, this only works if you remember to update the SELECTED state, so it's not as automated as you want. But it's a simple solution.
Very clever Judy!
I'm currently trying to get publish date from the meta.xml file in the publish folder. I'll let you know if I succeed.
There we are!
With a mix of Javascript found here and there and Judy's tip to hide information, here's an automated publish-date displayer!
Date is hidden in top left corner and this has to be on a server (online or running or your machine) to work.
Hope this can help.
Love it Pierre, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Ashley!
I wanted to put this into a Master Slide (Title slide) so my colleagues would just have to load theme and apply layout and... I remembered Theme don't save variables althought you're allowed to put variables in your Masters...
Now, they have to remember to create a variable for this to work.
