unwanted text fields appearing on custom feedback masters

Apr 27, 2020

I have a custom feedback master that has only a stop sign and I'm going to add a standard button to it that will always apply. ( slide master 1)

When I apply that master, it adds text fields like 'incorrect' and 'you did not select the correct answer.  why is this happening? ( slide master 2)

any thoughts?

By default, when you Insert Slide Master within the Feedback Master, Storyline adds the full set of layouts, which includes layouts for the Correct, Incorrect, Try Again, and Review Feedback layouts (layers) that might be used for a graded question. It also includes a blank layout, which is typically assigned to layers on regular slides.

It looks like your second image shows the default Incorrect layout. If you don't want any of that to appear, try either of these steps:

  • Delete everything from the associated layouts in your custom Feedback Master, or
  • Go to the feedback layers on your quiz slides, and select the "blank" feedback layout.

Note: Storyline doesn't usually delete objects that already exist on a slide. So you'll probably have to manually select and delete all the extraneous objects on existing question slides. If you still have more questions to insert, you're best option is to delete undesired objects in the Feedback Master layouts; then the associated layers will be blank (except for your custom objects) when you insert new questions.
