Update Issues
May 12, 2015
The newest update has a major flaw! It is not possible to ctrl + C and ctrl + V as I have done on almost 100 courses I have built this year. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and restarted after install etc. to no avail. I then uninstalled it and installed the old version from two months back and I can copy and paste from the timeline. There is no explaining or reasoning for the loss of this function. To actually have to mouse over onto the slide and select each item to then quickly copy and paste is ridiculous. Seconds become minutes and on and on, I don't need to tell you how time and space work. If I were you I would be on it and fix the functionality asap.

Hi Joseph
I am using SL2 update 5 and I don't have any trouble Copy/Paste from the timeline. Have you tried doing a repair on the installation
I'll try it, if you have the most current update and the shortcuts work without leaving the timeline then I will re-try and I appreciate the link. Thanks
That did not work, I followed the instructions and same issue. Let me be clear because I did notice that when the timeline box is docked in edit/slide view it works. I figured I'd try it to rule out all objectives. Yet the issue I'm concerned with is it does not work when the timeline is unlocked of the edit/slide view. I have Photoshop, Illustrator and word etc open on multiple monitors so I work with the timeline on my left monitor and edit/slide view on the right monitor. As I stated before I have had no issues in the past and have had re-installed an earlier update again and it works fine.
Ok..it works for me docked Ctrl C, Ctrl V or right click Copy/Paste
It works 'undocked' right click Copy/Paste but not Ctrl C, Ctrl V
Hi Joseph, if you haven't already you should submit a support call. It's free and the support team will help you out really fast.
Hi Joseph,
Thanks for reaching out here, and as Jeff said you're always welcome to connect with our Support engineers here.
I was able to easily recreate the behavior with the steps you shared, and it seems to only impact the timeline. I was able to copy/paste using the shortcuts when I undocked the slide view panel on the left and the trigger panel as well. I'm going to share this with our team - but in the meantime it seems that I am able to use the shortcuts when the panel is docked, or on the slide itself so please continue to utilize those workarounds. I cannot offer a time frame in regards to when I'll have additional information to share, so please stay subscribed to this thread as I'll update you here once there is information to share.
I have experienced this since SL2 Update 4. I see this most often when doing closed captioning, copying text from the Notes tab into my placeholder text variable using the Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V fails to work at all. The only thing that does work is the right-click Copy/Paste functionality.
Thank you for the input Jeff and David. Ashley thanks for taking the time recreating the steps to grasp a better understanding of the said issue. I prefer to wait until you update this thread as opposed to speaking to cs. I have to keep producing work and I will continue working in previous update version until there is news.
Certainly Joseph - and as I said I'll keep you posted here, so if you're able to use Update 4 and the shortcut keys work correctly there, please continue to do so. If you need to also use Update 5 for other projects, you may want to look at installing it on a virtual machine or different machine as both updates cannot coexist. There were a number of fixes and features included in Update 5 so I'd hate for you to be missing out on those.
