Updates and Cached Files

Aug 19, 2013

Hi,

I know that this is not an Articulate issue, but was wondering if anyone has experienced the same issue and came up with a solution.

We have had some of our external customers accessing training materials on a streaming server while we created a training portal where we can track the access of the modules.  We are ready to launch the training portal and want to redirect the merchants to the portal when they go to the URL for the streaming server.  This means that we need to keep the same name for the file.

I created a one-slide module that automatically redirects to the training portal website.  The redirect works well.  The problem is that when I replace the files for the old modules (that we don't want them to access outside of the portal) with the redirect module, the old module is pulled up from the browser's cache.  When the cache is cleared, then the new page appears and all is good.

I would like to know if there is a way to force the merchant's browser to clear the cache so the new module shows.  Otherwise, I am just going to have to take down the link completely without a redirect and that may cause some merchants to get upset, since they have no way of knowing where to go to access the information.

I know it's a shot in the dark, but hoping that someone can help.

Thanks,

Melanie
