Updating a file and displaying the changes

Oct 19, 2015

Hi,

I've edited the text in one of my courses and uploaded the entire course again. I can't get the browser to display the changes as it seems to be using the old version of the course. I've deleted all cookies, downloads and history in the browser, but it's still not working.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

I had this issue when I ran an LMS for a client and it would only change every 24 hrs.  It was a moodle site and there were a couple of things, one was to ensure the zip file was a different name and had a different version number.

When that didn't work we would have to switch to a different computer and that would sometimes work.

Hi Laura!

Looks like Phil has you covered here, but I wanted to share our documentation with you and for anyone that may run across this thread.

You may find that your Articulate Storyline content doesn't update as expected in the following scenario:

*  You're hosting content on a web server or LMS.
*  You republish the content and overwrite the existing files on the web server or LMS.

This is due to file caching. See this article for solutions.

Hi Laura,

I'd agree with Phil's thoughts here in regards to accessing a cached copy. If you're still having difficulty seeing the updated changes after checking into the server set up, different computers, browsers and waiting it out - are you able to reach out to your IT team to see if they can check the date/time stamp to see which one you are accessing? Perhaps they can delete or wipe out the older version and then you can re-upload the new one?

Hola!

I got in touch with the IT team. They noticed the dates of the files were the old ones. I uploaded the course as a single zip file many times and extracted everything directly in the server, but the old files in the server kept appearing as the extracted files. It was a problem related to the zip tool. The new files got lost somewhere in the process and the server kept using the old ones.

The problem was solved by uploading the files without using the zip tool.

Thanks for your help!
