Upgrade to Storyline 2

May 09, 2016

Hi All:

I recently upgraded to Storyline 2 and upon opening my projects in Storyline, I receive a prompt to upgrade or maintain the project in the version originally designed.  Initially, I opted to keep the current version.  When I return to continue working on the project, I receive the same prompt to upgrade as an option.  However, I am not allowed proceed until I accept the upgrade.  Now, Storyline 2 has overridden Storyline and all  of my Storyline projects are automatically upgraded.  The bigger problem is that some of the features I used in the Storyline project are not functioning the same in Storyline 2 (i.e., feedback slides transition, slide advancement, videos not playing, etc.).  My question is, "How do I make my project function properly now that Storyline 2 has overridden my previous work?"

Hi Donald,

Are you referring to Storyline 1 and Storyline 2 - or the different latest updates of Storyline 2 such as Update 7 and Update 8? As for going from versions such as 1 to 2 - you'll see all the icon's appear as Storyline 2 and they'll default to opening in the latest versions, but the files won't actually change until you've opened them in Storyline 2 and then you'll have the option to create the back up copy that you'll be able to open in Storyline 1 still - as they are not backwards compatible based on features.

If you've updated to Update 8 of Storyline 2 you won't be able to go back to how it behaved in the previous Update 7, so you may want to view the release notes here of what was fixed.
