uploading youtube video to storyline

May 27, 2015

I want to upload a youtube medical device video into storyline.  Copying the embed code, I paste it into storyline, but the video will not play.  Instead it stays you tube is upgrading to a new device and does not support this application.

I went the other direction and tried to upload as a web object.  No dice on this either.

Any suggestions from the community?

Hi, Glen - So, you reviewed this information (YouTube Videos Aren't Working in Published Output) and followed the instructions on How to Add a YouTube Video as a Web Object and it's still not working?

There are a few other things we can try to rule out some common issues. Please make sure you are working locally as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline to address erratic behavior. Also, could you please ensure that you are utilizing the most recent SL2 Update? Info on Update 5 can be found here

My thanks to Ashley and Christie for your help.  I found out that Google changed support for the YouTube API, which prevents videos from playing in Articulate content. I then used the Storyline record screen feature on the YouTube Video.  Unfortunately, about half way through I started to hear echo.  Not sure what happened there.  Finally, I used Camtasia record screen, converted to an MP4 and placed into Storyline.  Works fine.  All in all, it was a good learning experience.

Thanks to the community.
