Please help! Issue with retake button in Articulate Storyline 2

May 04, 2016

Hi,

I have a module which has a pass rate of 80%. The quiz is made up of 5 questions. If the user fails then they can choose one of three options:

  • Review the whole module again (starts from module title page)
  • Take the test again (starts from quiz bank)
  • Close and submit their score to the LMS

The problem I have is when I trial this on Scorm cloud and for instance get 40% the first time and then try again and get 60% (through using the buttons on the page). The score on the results slide is correct BUT the one submitted to the LMS is 100% (though it still says "failed"). I need it to record the highest mark only even if the user fails. What am I doing wrong?

Please help, I need to solve this quickly!

Ok update, so I went into the LMS Configuration file in the published content and changed the following value to "false"

"var REVIEW_MODE_IS_READ_ONLY = true; //set this to true if no new data should be saved when a course is launched in review mode (normally this is the LMS's responsibility)"

It now doesn't seem to add up the scores of failed attempts but not sure what the other implications are!

Hi Kirsty!

Looks like you may have found assistance or our documentation:

Most learning management systems (LMSs) consider a course to be in review mode when attempting it again after the completion requirement has been met. This prevents learners from accidentally changing their course status from complete back to incomplete. If you'd like to change this default behavior, see this article for details.

I'm not sure about any further implications, but perhaps others in the community that have had to adjust this setting will be able to chime in with their experience.
