It sounds like you want to add a zoom region to your slide and there is a tutorial on zoom regions here. These can be adjusted to appear and disappear at certain points on the timeline.
Alternatively, you can use the 'Zoom Picture' feature to allow the user to click on an image to zoom in; click on the image to select it, click on the Format tab at the top of the screen and then click on 'Zoom Picture' in the Size collection.
