Using a picture as a slider thumb

May 11, 2017

Hi

I'm using Storyline 360 and have inserted a slider. I have used a picture that is twice the size of the slide (horizontally) for the thumb of the slider. The idea is that the user clicks and drags the picture to move it left and right on the screen. My problem is, when moving the picture far left or far right, and then clicking in the middle of the screen, the image jumps back to it's initial starting point.

I don't recall having this problem in Storyline 2. Does anyone know how to fix this please?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Kelly,

Are you able to share the .story file with us? That'll be easier to see what's happening and play around with the file a bit too. You can upload it using the “ADD ATTACHMENT” button at the bottom of the reply window. If you’d prefer to not share in the public forums you’re always welcome to share with our Support Engineers here. They’re available 24/7 to assist!

Thanks!

Thanks Kelly for letting me take some time to look at it. It looks to be having as expected, as the image is the slider thumb and therefore when you click again on it you're bringing it back to the middle position.

Perhaps some of the examples here would help you get closer to the effect you're looking for? Or this sample here?  If you have the example that worked in Storyline 2 we could also look at upgrading it to see if something truly changed with the behavior.

Thanks Kelly again for sharing your file. I see the same behavior on your file when upgrading and on a new file. I'm going to get this into the hands of our team as a possible software bug, as it seems in Storyline 3/360 the entire slide track is active to click vs. Storyline 2 where it was only active where the slider thumb was.

From here, I’ll meet with my team to take a closer look so we can determine next steps. Sometimes my team catches errors in my logic and we don’t have a bug after all. Of course, if that’s the case, I’ll let you know!

Depending on priority and risk, some bugs can be fixed quickly, while others take longer to resolve. Here's more information on how we identify and tackle bugs.

I’ll let you know as soon as we have an update on this issue. Thanks so much again for letting us know about this, and I’m sorry if it’s slowing you down.
