Using a question more than once but only counting it once for the results slide

Apr 19, 2018

Hi All

We are trying to build a course where you do formative assessment through the module and if you pass you are done, however if you fail then you are able to do a summative assessment without having to do the content again.

The questions will be the same for the formative and summative. We are trying to give people the option to just do the assessment again without having to go through all the content.

At the moment I have created a QB and found that you can use the same question in more than one place in a module. However, when we get to the results slide I think it is wanting to add in both instances when the question was used.

I can create 2 results slide but how do i then make it write back just one result to the LMS?

Any ideas would be helpful.

Thanks.

Hi Leanne!

It sounds like you want to include two quizzes: a formative quiz and an summative quiz. You want the learner to pass either one of those quizzes, and the score from the passing quiz should be sent to the LMS. Is that correct?

Storyline sends data from only one specified results slide to the LMS. While there isn't an out-of-the-box method for setting this up, there may be a way to configure this with a little creativity.

Folks in the community are terrific at this kind of thing--I can't wait to see what they suggest for you!

Hi

In essence it is a formative quiz and an summative quiz, with the learner having to pass either one of those quizzes, and the score from the passing quiz should be sent to the LMS.

However we are using the exact same questions. We are trying to make it that if they fail the formative assessment they can take it again without having to go through all the content again.

Let's hope people have some ideas. I am going to play around with variables to see what I can do.
