Using alternate question on failure of initial question

Oct 18, 2016

Hi all,

I am working on a course where the learner needs to complete at 100%. If they answer a question incorrectly, they are shown a review video of the content, then presented with a second, alternate question, which they must answer correctly. If they answer all question correctly as they take the quiz, they never see the alternate questions.

Is there a way to tell articulate that the learner only needs to get only one of the two questions correct? Right now the only way I've been able to do this is to set the completion percent at 50%, because I have to include the alternate questions in the quiz results or the alternate questions aren't included in the results at all. However, that means that a passing score is 50%, which is what gets passed over to my LMS, not the 100% score that should be recorded.

I've tried javascript suggested in several other discussions to pass over the correct completion score to the LMS, but it doesn't seem to be working. Variables also don't work because the results.scorepercent can't be edited within Articulate. I can't use a question pool because question B must always be the alternate of question A.

Is there a way to change the results of question A if question B is answered correctly? What other options would I have to be able to pass the correct score over to the LMS? Am I missing something obvious?
