Using Checkboxes to Create Interaction in Articulate
Jul 31, 2018
Hi Everyone,
I am new to this forum and officially stuck. I am trying to utilize checkboxes as an interaction piece in a training. What I would like to do is have students check the box next to the answer they feel is most fitting. Then they will click submit to see whether their response is correct or incorrect. Here is what I would appreciate any help with in regards to setting variables or changing states to make the interaction work the way that I hope.
1. I do not want students to have the ability to check multiple boxes because there is only one correct answer. However, I do want them to have the ability to uncheck the box and change their mind if they choose before submitting their answer.
2. Checkbox 2 is the correct answer. I want to make sure it links to the layer that is labeled, "Correct." For Checkboxes 1 and 2, I want to make sure that when they hit submit, that it leads to the "Incorrect" layer.
I have tried multiple methods, and feel that I might be making this more complicated than it actually is. I am attaching a copy of my .story file here. Thank you all in advance!
Molly

Have a look at the attached and see if that's what you wanted. You didn't say if you wanted this to be a graded question, so I left it as a 'normal' (no score) interaction.
Hi Michael,
Ah, this is perfect! Would you be able to explain to me what you did? I could not figure out how to ensure that only one checkbox could be checked at a time. Thank you so much for your help. I truly appreciate it!
Best,

I love figuring out how Michael does stuff (especially when he does it so simply) but this one has me stumped too. For grins and giggles I added a fourth check box but can't tie it to the others so that only one can be selected, and I can't even see how Michael did the first three. Posting this to get it back to the top today to hopefully get an answer that I can add to my "tips & tricks" folder.
I grouped the checkboxes into a button set, which makes sure that only one checkbox can be selected. See here for info.
Sweet! I had looked to see if you had used Group because I thought that might be the trick, but I had never noticed the Button Set option. Definitely filing this little one away for the future!
