Using Javascript to pull and print user input
May 08, 2013
Hello all,
There's a feature I'd like to add in a course where the learner enters text replying to a self-reflection question. Their answers are displayed to them in a summary slide that I built using variables. What I'd like to do is allow the learner to print these answers. I am aware of a way to print slides from a course, but this method only takes a screenshot of what's currently on the slide and the length of a learner's answer necessitates the use a scroll bar. I know of a way to pull data from stored variables in Storyline using Javascript, but I'm wondering if there's a way to display that data in some printable form like a webpage or PDF. I'll admit I'm not very familiar with Javascript.
thanks!

Hi Tim,
This seems to be a popular request lately! It would be cool to print to PDF or something similar. Would you mind submitting a feature request so it gets on the radar?

I think I have an idea or two for this...
I will start tinkering (ominous music here)
Any progress with this James?
Hi Jim,
You may want to PM James as he may not be subscribed to this thread.
I am attempting something similar to Timothy,
I would like to get users to input a list of ideas as free text or in several free text fields and then I would like the player to present them with their list so that they can then rank them.
Is this do-able?
Sounds complicated.
Dan
