I created a project for a client and the client is asking for the labels to remain open on a marker interaction page. I can't see that there is a way to make this happen but maybe someone knows?
Marker captions will close automatically when clicking outside the marker (including anywhere on a layer) in any version of Storyline at this time, but I'll share your insight as a Feature Request with the team. You should get an email confirmation about it shortly!
If you need to have the marker to stay open, the custom caption on a layer approach is a good one and can be used with any object (built-in markers, too!)
Here's a sample file to show you how it could work. Let me know what you think!
thanks for your reply and the sample course. I know how to do that, but working with many markers, it would save me a lot of work being able to choose leaving the marker caption open instead of building many many layers (or objects with different states, which is what I had in mind - both should work).
Being lazy, I am always up for saving work... ;-)
Thanks for filing it as a feature request, saves me doing it. :-)

No, to achieve this I think you would need to build fake markers
You could just use a caption under an audio only marker, and set a trigger to change sate of the caption to normal when user clicks/hovers over
Cool, thank you. I thought I might have to do something like that.
Glad that Phil was able to pop in and assist you here Hilary :)
Hi,
sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but is this now possible with SL3?
I have thought about creating my own, but it is a faff, and if it was available out of the box, this would be great.
The caption solution could be done with any object though, right? I don't need to use a marker...
