Using screen reader on the player

Nov 21, 2017

I'm using Storyline 360 and I'm customizing the tab order on each slide, but I'd like to also customize the tab order in the player. Is this possible, and if so, how do I do it? When I select tab now after previewing the entire project, the whole menu (table of contents) section is selected. Does anyone know how the screen reader reads it ? please see attached picture for example.

Thanks!

Hi Debbie,

It looks like Alyssa's link didn't work - so I copied the content here for you:

Here's how it works:

  1. First, you'll tab through the slide objects in the order defined by the content author.
  2. When you press the Tab key after the last object on the slide, the screen reader will instruct you to press the spacebar or Enter key if you want to skip player navigation.
    • If you press the spacebar or Enter key, your next tab will jump back to the first object on the slide.
    • If you don't press the spacebar or Enter key, your next tab will proceed to the player navigation.

The option to skip player navigation when using a screen reader is always enabled.

As for the menu, it'll only read out the menu items when they're highlighted which you can navigate too with the up/down arrows.
