Using Submit Button

How do you create an interaction to be used when the user clicks the submit button?

Hi Veronica and welcome to Heroes!

I'm not sure I am following your question, by typically when you set up a quiz question - the built in trigger is to submit the interaction when the user clicks the submit button. Have you viewed the tutorials here on working with quizzes?

You also mentioned them as "interactions" which is a common term here for content created in Engage, so you'll want to ensure you're following the directions here to import Engage '09 content into Storyline, or the directions here for Engage '13.

If I'm misunderstanding, could you share a bit more about what you'd like to set up?

Thank you for responding.  I am just learning Articulate so I don't know what Engage is.  I want to present my learning with a question and a list of options.  Not a quiz, just something informal.  I'd like them to be able to select one and then click on Submit.  It looked like there is an interaction that can be set up as part of the trigger on the Submit button.  Perhaps the Submit button is not what I want and I should just create buttons for each choice instead.

Hi Veronica,

Sorry to confuse you - Engage is another product within the Articulate Studio Suite, but if you were referring to that, feel free to disregard.

Even though they're called quiz questions - you can choose for them to not be scored, or provide feedback to the user, and any of the "survey" question types are by design not graded. The quiz question types are what are normally used in association with the submit button - and therefore it's a trigger automatically generated when using one of those. You could also set this up on your own by adding in a button set and then setting up your own triggers.

I'd suggest you begin by reviewing the following tutorials:

Adding questions

Adding button sets

Adding and editing triggers
