Using Text Entry to unlock navigation restriction

Jul 23, 2019

I would like to create a text entry password box on the title slide of my course so that trainers don't have to sit through the entire course and can skip through. I've seen it done before but for the life of me cannot remember how to do it.

-Thanks!

Hi there, Josephine! This should help:

  • First, here are the different navigation restriction options. If you restrict navigation, leave the previous and next buttons unrestricted.
  • If you are using the same layout for all of your slides, you can add these triggers to the slide master layout:
    • Change the state of the next button to Hidden when the timeline starts on the slide/layout.
    • Change the state of the next button to Normal when the timeline ends. (this covers folks who need to view the entire timeline of each slide)
    • Change the state of the next button to Normal when the timeline reaches .25 seconds with the condition IF the value of the text entry variable is equal to your password. (this allows the next button to function virtually immediately for your trainers)

Give that a try and let us know how it works out!
