using variables across different slides

Jan 16, 2020

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to create an interactive board to use as a positive reinforcement during my classes. My plan is to create a different board for each week of the term in which the name of the student who participates will be drag and drop on some shape on the board. As for tracking the progress, I'm using a variable for each student and each time his name is dropped on the board, 10 points are added to the variable. In the end, there will be a result slide that shows the score for each student. My questions:
* is it possible to use a text entry to show the value of a variable that was created and modified on different slides?
* is there a simple way to use a graphic that reflects the progress of my students score?

*the board resets every time I use it, how can I solve this issue to save the drag and drop interactions that I made?

thanks

So resuming between uses depends on where you are launching it from. If you are not on an LMS then the course is most likely not going to bookmark. Bookmarking is done via cookies outside of an LMS and most browsers nowadays block cookies from being stored. If you are on an LMS then make sure that the course is set to resume in the player and make sure each slide is set to resume saved state.

So as far as displaying a variable inside a text box on screen, simply add a text box and then put the variable name between 2 % symbols. So if your variable is Student1, you can display the variable on screen by putting %Student1% in the text box. You can also go to the insert tab and then under the text section, hit the insert reference button. This will allow you to select variable you want to use. You can then format it appropriately. The variable will take on whatever formatting the text box has.

As for graphics, I would create one graphic with multiple states, and then you can change the state of the graphic(s) based on what the variable is.

Hope that helps.
