Using variables to change states of buttons
Aug 11, 2014
Hi I am having issues with changing the states of buttons based on test results. I have several Modules (aka lessons) that each have a test at the end. There is a "Modules Home" slide that includes buttons to each module. These buttons will change their states to identify which modules have been successfully completed. If they pass the test, they click a button to take them back to the Modules Home slide where they see the button for that module has been changed to "passed."
To do this, I've created a variable called PassMod1 to be True/False variable with a false default value. I also created button that only appears on the "success" layer when completing the test. This button changes the variable PassMod1 to "true" and it takes them back to the Modules Home slide. I have come across a few issues:
1. It will only change the state to "visited" no matter what state I have chosen (I created a "passed" state).
2. It only changes the state of the button after you have clicked on the button (which takes you to the beginning of the module).
I can't seem to find a way around these issues. Is there a suggestion on how to fix this or even a way to start over and get the same results? Thanks!
Wes

Good Afternoon, Wes.
I can't spot a flaw in your logic, although it is admittedly difficult to picture without the project in-hand. Would you mind sharing your .story project file with us for a closer look? Thanks!
I don't mind sharing at all. Question: By "sharing" do you mean that anyone on the forum can see ? If so, I'll have to delete some client-specific info before I post it. Thanks for the help.
