Using variables to display quiz attempts left
Dec 18, 2018
I have a graded quiz which allows 5 attempts and user must retake complete quiz. I did the following:
- added a variable named "timesattempted"
- added trigger to question #1. "add 1.00 timesattempted when user clicks the submit button."
- added layers to the results slide. ex. show layer "attempt 3" when timesattempted changes if timesattempted is equal to 3.00
I can't seem to get the layer to appear. Event though the variable is calculating correctly according to the variable log (below)
Ideas?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Trigger Text: "Show layer Attempt 4 When timesattempted changes If timesattempted is equal to 4.00 "
• Used by a slide layer trigger condition on "Attempt 3" in "3 Final Exam"
Trigger Text: "Show layer Attempt 3 When timesattempted changes If timesattempted is equal to 3.00 "
• Used by a slide layer trigger condition on "Attempt 3" in "3 Final Exam"
Trigger Text: "Show layer Attempt 3 When timesattempted changes If timesattempted is equal to 3.00 "
• Used by a slide layer trigger condition on "Attempt 2" in "3 Final Exam"
Trigger Text: "Show layer Attempt 2 When timesattempted changes If timesattempted is equal to 2.00 "
• Used by a slide layer trigger condition on "Attempt 2" in "3 Final Exam"
Trigger Text: "Show layer Attempt 2 When timesattempted changes If timesattempted is equal to 2.00 "
• Used by a slide layer trigger condition on "Attempt 1" in "3 Final Exam"
Trigger Text: "Show layer Attempt 1 When timesattempted changes If timesattempted is equal to 1.00 "
• Used by a slide layer trigger condition on "Attempt 1" in "3 Final Exam"
Trigger Text: "Show layer Attempt 1 When timesattempted changes If timesattempted is equal to 1.00 "

Hey Kelley,
At first glance, without taking a look at your course, try to adjust your trigger on the Results Slide to:
Show layer "attempt 3" when Timeline Starts on Result Slide if timesattempted is equal to 3.00

Hi Kelley,
As Leslie suggested, attached is my sample file.
Thanks for a demo file Daniel!
Kelley, just let us know if you need some additional assistance or need us to take a look as I mentioned above.
