Validating the user-entered data in a Data Entry box

Sep 12, 2013

I've not been able to find the answer to this among the previous posts, so I'd appreciate a pointer to it if it already exists.

In Storyline, I want to validate (i.e. restrict) what the learner can enter in a Data Entry Text Entry field.  For example, I want the learner to enter information in the "password" field.  If they enter "TRAIN" that's correct, but if they enter "train' it's not. If they enter the latter, I want to give them feedback reminding them that passwords are case-sensitive.

Is this possible, or should I use a quiz slide to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Hi Michael and welcome to Heroes!

A quiz slide may be easier, as you'll be able to set what the acceptable answers are, and there is a check box for if "Answers are case sensitive".

Additionally, if you'd like to give them multiple attempts, you could give that hint on the "Try Again" layer to help them along.
