Variables
Dec 23, 2014
I am apparently missing a step with a variable. On my main slides the student must visit four other slides before moving forward in the scene. When the student visits one of the four slides, the next button returns them to the main slide and shows visited. However, I can't figure out to to move the student on once all four slides are visited. Please help.

Hi Kendra
is this what you mean?
Let me play with this Wendy and see it it works. How did you not use variables? You make it look so simple.
I also noticed that you didn't use visited stated changes. I'm confused on how you did this so easily.
This won't work. When they are on the main page, they can click the "next button" and skip several slides.
Then set trigger on main page on the next button
'Jump to slide next slide when user clicks next button with conditions that Slide1 = visited and Slide2= visited and Slide3= visited and slide4 = visited'
SL has default states for buttons so when you create a button with a hover state or visited state - SL knows what behaviour that should display - I only added a tick to the visited state so you could see it changing. You don't need to use triggers on these default states (in most cases) - let me know if you need any more help
Hello Kendra!
Here is the information on the built in states in Storyline that Wendy mentioned.
Still confused. I got the states in, but don't I have to have a variable to add conditions?
Hello Kendra,
Conditions are added to the trigger panel. They do not require a variable. You can trigger to change a variable, or have a condition that a variable is set to X in order for the trigger to set.
Do you have a file you could share for us to look at your set up?
What is the best way for me to share the file?
You can add it as an attachment to this post, or you can share it privately here.
