Variables for Quiz Results

Nov 12, 2017

Hello all,

I am putting together an test that helps assess the learner's negotiation style. I need to write a variable and set up a trigger that will open a layer in the results slide based on the number of points the learner receives.

The if/then statement would be: If user gets  >18 points then open layer ___. I'm pretty sure this is doable, but I'm a bit stuck. Any help is appreciated!

I have attached the file to this reply (I think). What I am trying to do is get an assertiveness index score which is calculated using this formula:

Assertiveness Index = (Competing Style Total Score + Collaborating Style Total Score)
- (Avoiding Style Total Score + Accommodating Style Total Score)

Is it possible to have storyline calculate this automatically?

Hi Latoya,

You should be able to calculate the assertiveness index with the addition of a couple of variables.  I'm sorry, but I'm fighting a headache right now and I'm not in the right frame of mind to work on this.  Here's a link that might help you https://articulate.com/support/article/how-to-perform-calculations-in-storyline  If this doesn't help you, I'll have a look at it again tomorrow night.

Hi Latoya,

I added 3 variables - CompCompro (to add the Competing + Compromising Styles)

AvoidAccom (to add the Avoiding + Accommodating Styles)

AssertIndex (to subtract CompCompro - AvoidAccom)

I placed all of the new triggers on slides 31 & 32.  I added a new slide to the end so that you could test that all the new variables are working.  I set the new variables to zero on the first slide in case someone retries the quiz.

Hi Linda,

I had some time to revisit this project, and I'm not sure I am on the right path. I added the variables to calculate the scores for the Cooperation Index. But I think I'm missing something.

The formula reads: Cooperativeness Index = (Collaborating Style Total Score + Accommodating Style Total Score) - (Competing Style Total Score + Avoiding Style Total Score)

Thanks for your help.
