Variables - Interactions / From one slide to another

Hi,
I am hoping someone can help me see what I am doing wrong. I have attached an example.
Basically, the user will choose a topic from the bookshelf. When that happens, a yellow check mark appears indicating that the user has begun that module. When they click on the "book" on the desk, it takes them to the module. When they click "yes" on that page I want the yellow check mark to hide and the green check mark to appear on the main page.
That is not happening. I have added variables, changed variables, etc., to no avail.
Can anyone help me?
Thank you,
Teresa

Hi Teresa,
You have the right idea, but there are 2 things going on here that are preventing your mechanism from working.
1. Trigger order matters.
On the second slide in your sample, you have "Jump to Slide 1.1 When user clicks [Yes button]" ABOVE, ie: BEFORE, the variable-changing triggers. Triggers are executed in order, from top to bottom, so what is happening is that the user is jumping back to the first slide before the second slide has a chance to execute its other triggers. So the variables never change.
To fix this, send the "Jump to slide" trigger to the bottom of the stack, like so:
2. 'Where' a triggering event happens matters. In other words, when you create a trigger on a certain slide, the triggering action needs to happen IN that slide for it to execute.
In your current slide, you have the Yellow and Green checks change when the variables' values change. In other words, you have:
Change the state of [Yellow] to State [Hidden] When [Variable 'YellowCk' changes].
The problem is that variable changes on slide 2, not on slide 1. Slide 1 is "deaf" to that change, so it doesn't know it happened. Instead, use the start of slide 1's timeline as the triggering event and add a variable-based condition, like so:
Change both of the triggers on Slide 1 this way, and you can, and probably should, tie them both to the same variable (to make it cleaner and easier for you to continue editing).
I tested this with your current 'Automatically decide' reset settings, and it worked, but if you have any trouble, just post here again and I will take another look.
Hope this helps!
THANK YOU!!!
This worked beautifully. So very much appreciated.
Thanks for the update Teresa! Glad that Belen was able to assist you here
No problem! Glad it worked.
