Variables on import

Dec 16, 2019

I created couple of attached simple courses 'Chapter 1 Example' and 'Chapter 2 Example' and then tried to import 'Chapter 2 Example' into 'Chapter 1 Example' which is saved in the attached file 'Combined 1 & 2'.

Upon import, the variables of the second file have changed and they have unnecessarily increased 4 times. As an example, in the file 'Chapter 2 Example' I have variable '2_Learn1' defined once while in the imported file there are four versions of this variable '2_Learn11', '2_Learn12', '2_Learn13' and 2_Learn14'. Same is the case for all variables. I was wondering if someone can please help me?

Hello Irfan and welcome to E-Learning Heroes :)

Thank you for reaching out and sharing what you are running into with your project variables when importing into another file.

We do have a similar issue that has been shared with our team for investigation, so I'm adding this conversation and your sample to the report as well.

I wanted to share some information on how we define bugs and how we tackle them when they occur.

We'll be sure to update you here when we can.

Hi, Irfan.

I have great news to share!

We just released another update for Storyline 360. In Update 61, we've included important fixes and new features.

One of the fixes we've included is:

Renaming variables and then importing slides with those variables into another project resulted in duplicate variables.

To take advantage of this update, launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button next to Storyline 360. You'll find our step-by-step instructions here.
