Video controls and HTML5

May 04, 2016

Hi all

I am creating a story storyline 2, with a good number of video clips simply placed on slides and with the "show controls below video" option taken.

In HTML the thing plays perfectly and I can have the learner control the clip.

When I publish to HTML5, the controls do not show at all.

I imagine I can workaround with some sort of a toggling (start/pause/restart) arrangement using triigers etc but I am wondering if anyone knows whether my results with HTML5 are to be expected.

Thanks, any advice appreciated

Funny enough, I'm experiencing the exact opposite. Storyline 2>Show Video Controls Below Video. When I launch (on our web server) using /story.html the video controls won't appear in Chrome and IE. But if I launch using /story_html5.html the video controls work as expected (hover over video and controls appear).

This only occurs with the version on the web server. When I publish and test from the published folder on my desktop both story.html and story_html5.html work as expected. It's only when I tested the link to the version on our web server that I noticed the controls won't appear when launched using story.html.

(It's interesting to note that Chrome and IE are using the controls built into the browser as the controls are different from what is in Storyline and Chrome and IE's controls are each different.)

Thanks for sharing your file Paul - I took a look and it is the opposite of the other issues we have seen. I have filed a support case (01044481) on your behalf to have a support engineer take a look and you should be hearing from someone soon. I will be following along as well.

I just wanted to mention that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature. You are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
