Video degradation on publishing
Mar 14, 2013
Good day.
I tested Storyline trial and discovered that Storyline converted my videos from test course to mp4 with significant loss of quality. I created beautiful movies in Ogg theora and WebM then added them to empty slides as *.avi files - ok. But on publishing they got converted to mp4 with size slashed from 1MB to 200Kb with respective quality loss. Also in story_html5 version I got strange smoky background instead of pure white in my original movies. So I got the following questions:
1) How can I have Storyline not convert my videos for html5 output if they are in Html5 compatible codecs already?
2) What codecs should I use so Storyline not convert my videos for Flash output? Should I have flvs for Flash?
I want to opt out any conversion of my movies.
Thanks a lot!
PS Surely I can try to replace Storyline generated mp4s with my own files in the output dirs but this seems a way difficult. Thanks!
Alex

Hi Alexey, welcome to the community!
I just recently discussed a similar issue with another community member. You can check out our discussion over here.
And I went into a little more detail about the workaround you mentioned right over here.
I hope that helps shed some light, and let us know if you have any other questions.
Thanks, Alexey!
