Video: Doesn't jump to the next slide
Sep 23, 2013
Hi
I need your help! I am creating a training course and I need to set it up so that the user must go through a video without skipping any portion of it before the certificate page is reached. I inserted a video (MPEG-4), which is about 1 hour long, into my first slide and then inserted a screenshot of the last fram of the video with a "Next" button for my second slide. A blank slide follows for the third slide where the user enters their name and then a certificate for my fourth, and last, slide. The issue I am having is, I can not seem to move onto the second slide after the video ends. I set up a slide trigger on the first slide so that the user will jump to the next slide automatically as soon as the timeline ends. The movie ends and I just get stuck there. I need to be able to move on to the second slide automatically after the video. Is there any trick to this? Thanks for your adivce in advance!

Hi Jin,
Sorry to hear about this issue. With regards to the trigger being used, are we talking about the timeline of the video or the timeline of the slide?
How big is the file itself? Would you be able to attach it here so that I can take a closer look?
If the file is pretty big or it needs to be kept private, please see about submitting a Support Case. Make sure to upload the file when doing so.
Thanks,
Adrian
Dean,
Thanks for your reply! Please see attached a modified version of the file I am working on. I put in video controls for the video on Slide 1 for your navigation convenience and removed the third and fourth slides from the original, for I believe they have nothing to do with the issue. The question of wether selecting the timeline of the "video" or the "slide" does not seem to have any bearing on this issue. Please advise.
Hi Jin,
I didn't have any issues with modified version. In both the preview and the published output, once the video ended, it advanced to the next slide.
I've attached the CD published output for you to view. Just unzip the file and click on the Launch_Story.exe.
One thing I'm not sure on, was the issue occurring for you in Preview, or Published output, or both?

Dean,
Thank you for taking the time to look into this for me. As you said, I do not see any problem with the modified version now. What I have found out is, turning on the video conrols for the video and fast-forwarding to the point only a couple of seconds away from the end of it somehow prevents it from automatically advancing to the second slide. I removed the video controls, endured through the entire video, and it worked just fine. I took the same approach to the original file, whose video is 1 hour long, and imagine how much I felt relieved when the video automaticallly advanced to the second slide! Thanks for your assistance, Dean!
Hi Jin,
More than happy to. Let me know if you have anymore questions or need anymore help.
Thanks,
Adrian
Hey, I'm having a trouble on same issue as well.
Does it mean that I can't allow the user to control the movie timeline AND jump to the next slide when the movie ends?.....
it's really important for me to allow these both....
Any ideas?
Hi Maytal,
When you include the video controls for an individual video you separate it from the slide timeline, so that the trigger to jump to the next slide will not function.
