When you need to access the course using the HTML5 output, you'll need to use the web object mentioned as described here. Also, you mentioned two browser, can you confirm you're testing the HTML5 version in these supported browsers:
Google Chrome 14 or later on Windows or Mac
Safari 5.1 or later on Windows or Mac
Mobile Safari in Apple iOS 5.0 or later on iPad
Since you mentioned the mime type, you may also want to review the troubleshooting steps outlined here and mime type is mentioned at the bottom.

Update I tried using a Web Object instead of an Embed code. When I test the youtube video it plays.
The video does not appear with either story.html or story_html5 - just a blank, I have tried 2 browsers and 2 hosts - same result
