Video in HTML5

Nov 22, 2015

I am having a difficult time with Videos in HTML 5 version of my project. (First issue)Here is the set up, I have 5 quiz slides set up, a video on each slide that then goes into the options for the question, if that makes sense.  I am basically embedding 5 videos. Everything works fine on a laptop or desktop, but on a phone or tablet, before every video a black screen blinks. (Second issue) I have a series of videos over 10 slides that I have added after these slides that have audio attached to each slide.  The audio doesn't play at all on the phone or tablet, but works fine on the desktop or laptop.  Can you guys help me figure out what I can do to make it seamless across all devices?

Hi Catherine,

Thanks for reaching out here and I'm sorry to hear about the issues you encountered. To start out with I wanted to confirm that you're viewing the courses in the browsers and OS's detailed here as a part of our viewing requirements.  If you're viewing it on an Android device, it's worth noting that by default, video placeholders are always black in the Articulate Mobile Player app on Android devices, whereas iOS devices use the first frame of a video as its placeholder.

You can avoid this limitation by setting the poster frame for the your video in Articulate Storyline. Just right-click the video and select Set Poster Frame, then browse to the image you want to use. If you change your mind, right-click the video again and select Remove Poster Frame.

As for the audio issue, is it set up to be triggered or auto play? HTML5 can only auto play one media file at a time. Learners would need to manually play the other item.

If you're still having difficulty with this file, it may help if we're able to take a look and find out more about where/how you're testing and viewing the content.
