Video in published Storyline course wouldn't play again when the slide is revisited in Firefox only

Sep 28, 2017

Hi all,

Anyone else experiencing the same odd problem with published Storyline courses with videos in Firefox.

Description of the problem - there's a slide that only contain a video .mp4. It's supposed after the Media completes to go automatically to the next slide. If you just let the video to finish by itself and goes to the next slide and try to revisit the video slide the video will no longer play - it shows the video controls but the estimated duration is 0:00 and video would not load or start at all. That's only happening in Firefox. Chrome and Edge are not affected. Also if you let the video to play just before Media end and hit Next button the course will move to the next slide and when revisiting the video slide the video would play normally every time until you let it go to the Media end.

Thanks,

Tsvety

Meanwhile, I found a workaround for that bug - if I make the Media loops and make the trigger just before the trigger for automatically advancing to the next slide the outputted HTML 5 will work in Firefox as well but that should not be the norm since we don't need the media to loop.

Hi Tsvety,

Thanks for bringing this up. We're seeing that videos in Storyline 360 do not replay on revisit once the video has completed when viewing in Firefox with HTML5. Our team is looking into this problem, and I'll be sure to post an update here as we get new information.

I'll make note of the workaround you shared and suggest it to others who run into this bug in the future. Thanks again for letting us know it's affecting you, and I'm sorry it's slowing you down!

Thanks, Alyssa, for your reply and that your team is looking into the problem! It would be great if they fix it since with the workaround the videos are put into loop now and sometimes you don't want the video to loop but stay on last image and when changing slides you can see for fractions of the second video re-playing on background. So as I explained it's just a workaround, definitely not a perfect solution.

Oh, and I also tried putting Play the media when the timeline starts but that couldn't fix it.
