Video pauses without a trigger event

Hello,
I am currently working for a client doing some Flash conversions and have run into an interesting issue. First, I created a custom video player to control the video in .mp4 format, which isn't a problem. However, I have found that when I overlay the video with a layer of buttons that the video pauses, and when I click a button on my layer that the video starts again and there are no triggers set up to do this. I have also tried this same function in additional .story files with the same results.
Is this an undocumented feature and is there a way to stop this from occurring?

Hi Debra!
This should be a quick fix! It sounds like you have a setting on your layer to pause the timeline when the layers are active.
This setting to pause the timeline on the base layer is in the Layer Properties. For what you're looking to do, make sure this is unchecked.
