Video Quality and Ending a Project

Mar 24, 2014

Hey, I'm new to Articulate and have a couple questions.

1. I'm importing the highest quality video I can and exporting it in the highest settings and by the time it plays in my LMS system the quality is not as sharp as I'd like.  Just wondering what others have done?

2.  What are my ending options?  Right now it ends on results but I'd like it to go back to the home screen of the LMS system or ask them to retake, just wondering what others have done.

Thanks!

Hi Zola and welcome to Heroes!

In regards to your video, Storyline will compress the video to allow for the best quality video at the lowest file size as described here.  There is a method described here to replace the video in your published output with the original video to keep the quality.

As far as ending options, you can also add a button to your results slide allowing the user to review or retry the quiz (look at the Edit Results ->Options window for these options).  You may also want to look at adding an "Exit" button that closes the course window, although how it behaves will depend on your LMS and how it opens the course.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Ashley that was a great help!

Got another issue for ya!   I'm trying to add a condition or trigger not sure which that if they pass it will automatically go to one screen and if they fail another.  Also, I would like to randomize my questions if they fail - maybe it's a 6 question test but I've got 10 loaded for it to randomly pick.

Thanks for your help!  Any links, etc would be great.  Also, I'm signing up for the webinars.

Hi Zola,

If you use a results slide you'll see that there is a success layer and failure layer generated automatically based on what you set for the passing score. So you're looking to randomize the questions on a retry only or are you using a question bank throughout? If you're using it throughout when you revisit the question draw slide, it should be treated as a new attempt and they'd get a new set of 6 - although it's not guaranteed that they'd be all different.

Hey Ashley,

What i really need to do is figure out how i end the scene.  Right now the results slide still has the next which goes no where and what i want to happen is if they pass they can move forward to a slide I make with the Home screen and if they Fail they are stuck there and if they move forward they have to retake the test.  Can you help me?  THanks!

Hi Zola,

You could make some custom buttons that would appear on the Success and Failure layers that direct users to wherever you'd like them to go. Printing a certificate "automatically" is something you'd need to set up with Javascript, which is not something I'm equipped to support. There are a number of community members who are well versed and may be able to assist.
