Video Sync Issues when using Seekbar (SL2)

Jul 31, 2015

Hi, I hope someone could help us with the following issue:

We've made a page where we've inserted a 2 minute mp4 video file. Afterwards we've created subtitles synchronized to a narration audio track in the video file. These are simply textboxes we've timed according to the narration in the mp4.

When first viewing the slide, everything runs well. However, when using the SEEKBAR to jump forward/back (especially back) the video and subtitles go out of sync.

What we've attempted so far:

1. Inserting an .FLV version of the same .MP4 video. This simply cased the Storyline application to stop responding every time. So couldn't even test that.

2. Another attempt was to extract the audio from the mp4, and insert it separately. The result: the audio and subtitles remain in sync even when jumping forward/back with the SEEKBAR. However, the video playback runs 1-4 seconds late, out of sync with the subtitles and audio.

We would be so grateful for any insight or ideas on how to overcome this issue.

Thanks!

P.S.

Some parameters of the MP4 file:  1080 x 524; 30 fps; 387 kbps;

Hi, Eric, and Welcome to the Community!

Sorry to hear you are having issues, but we can try the following to rule out the causes of some common issues: Please make sure you are working locally and testing your published output in the intended environment as described here, and you may want to try importing the file into a new file. If you are still having issues, you might want to try to repair Storyline. Also, could you please ensure that you are utilizing the most recent SL2 Update? Info on Update 5 can be found here

And it never hurts to attach your .story file (or if privacy is an issue, a pared-down sample that illustrates the behavior you are seeing) so that people in the community can take a closer look and make suggestions. Please use the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left corner of the reply box in the thread, and you can browse for the file from there. Please also note that if you reply via email, your attachment will not appear here in the thread. Thanks! :)

Hi all,

I wanted to provide an update here, as Storyline 2 Update 8 was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here. The item you all may be particularly interested in is how it fixed an issue where a video would no longer be synced with the slide's timeline after using the seekbar to scrub back and forth through the video. You can download the latest update here, and after downloading and installing the latest update you’ll want to republish any existing content to ensure that the updates and fixes are applied.
