Hopefully that subject line is self-explanatory. I'm using video on layout slides, and have been surprised that the "story_content" folder sees it necessary to publish an instance of the video for each use of the layout slide (the files are identical, save for an incrementing suffix number). This bloats the course file size significantly, especially if I have a fifty-page scene. I can't think of a reason why all media assets in layout slides couldn't point to the same published resource...
Has anyone observed this before? Is there any workaround?
This has been shared with us before as you can see here and the report has been filed with the QA Team. I will add this to their report for user awareness and so that we can update when applicable. Can you verify your version/update of Storyline being used?
I was contemplating decompiling the SWFs to change the reference to the
first video, and then deleting the duplicates, but this seemed risky.
We have a large (130+ pages) course, and we wanted to use a small
background texture video on a master slide. This bug makes the file size
of the published course prohibitive.

I am attaching source and publish folders of a project demonstrating the issue, as zipped archives, in case someone cares to take a peek.

Leslie,
I'm using Storyline 2, Update 10: 1607.1221.
