Videos not encoding

Feb 08, 2018

Hi so me and a colleague have had an issue with editing videos in Storyline 360.

Happens with every video we make and import into any course, even stock storyline footage cannot be edited.

After trying many of the potential fixes on the forum, nothing has worked. I am trying to add a logo to a video. I can add the logo, but when I click Save&Close the progress bar appears and a error message appears saying Video could not be encoded.

Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Hi there, Leo.  I was able to add a semi-transparent logo to my .mp4 video using a .png image that I had saved to my desktop.  I tested in the latest build of Storyline 360 (3.12.14647.0).

Could you confirm a couple of details for me:

  • What version of Storyline are you using? ( Help > About Articulate Storyline)
  • What file type is the image you're choosing for the logo?
  • Is this happening with any image file you try to use as a logo?
  • Where is your .story file saved?  Where is the logo saved?

If you'd like to share your logo image file here using the Add Attachment button, I'm happy to test it out on my end!

Thanks for those details, Leo. My hunch is that working from your network server is causing these issues. Let's try this:

  • Open a new, blank Storyline 360 file from your local hard drive.
  • Insert a video file on the first slide.
  • Click Edit Video, and try adding a logo to the video. Use a PNG file that is saved to your local hard drive.
  • Click Save and Close.

Let me know if the video saves successfully after following those steps!
