View mode simulation steps and IE9

Sep 24, 2015

Hello,

I have a course that is running on an LMS on IE9 (with Flash Player 11) - U understand from minimum specifications that the course should be compatible.

However, we are experiencing odd behaviour - the course is set up so that in Test mode if the user gets the step wrong twice they are shown the view mode step - but every time the view mode step freezes and causes the course to hang.

I've seen other threads on here about IE9, security settings and compatibility mode but wondered whether there was something within Storyline 2 update 7 that may cause the course to behave differently than a course published in update 5 (which co-incidentally as far as we are aware is working fine, including View mode steps). Could it be something to do with the .swf files?

Any help/guidance/advice much appreciated.

Thanks,

Greg

I knew you were going to ask that. So it works fine on our version of the
LMS, the same LMS that the client has...but we use IE11 and the client has
IE9 and alsonexperienced the same hanging behaviour in Google chrome, yet
for us it works fine.

I noticed we also have a higher version of flash player than the client but
again this shouldn't make a difference based on minimum tech specs...

I think it's related to the .swf files that form part of the View more
steps but I'm not technical enough to know exactly what - whether it's
memory or bandwidth related?

Help as ever much appreciated!

We have taken the view mode videos out and replaced them with static text to see if that resolves this issue. Will post an update once we know...My suspicion is that it will work fine and that it's something to do with the .swf files.

Interestingly, I had a vague recollection of having had a similar experience in the past that I had posted on here - it was roughly 3 years ago and pertained to running simulations with drag actions on a Citrix environment...the screen froze then too : (

But anyway, due to  client confidentiality reasons I am unable to share or upload the file to SCORM cloud but I did spend some time this morning creating a demo file that replicates the functionality so please feel free to upload this to SCORM Cloud and test in IE9. Please let me know what you discover...

Thanks,
Greg

Hi, Greg -- Thank you for your patience, and my apologies, but I am experiencing some technical difficulties, and am unable to check out your file in IE9. In the interest of testing your file as indicated, I have gone ahead and created a ticket for you (00651460) with our Support team. One of our Engineers will review your file and will be in touch via email with their findings.
