There isn't a way to toggle the sidebar menu in Storyline, although I've seen other community members ask for it in a feature request. You may also want to review this thread with a similar discussion and ideas on how to achieve a similar look and feel.

Thanks for the response. I increased the story size to make it feel more spacious but will look into some of the ideas from the link.
