"View Project" doesn't work in Storyline

Oct 11, 2012

While I'm working on a project, the preview feature works fine. However, after I publish a SCORM file for an LMS, the prompt appears that confirms the publish was successful. When I click the “View Project” button in the prompt, a tab opens in my browser (IE8) with a “Launch” button. When I click the button, nothing happens and “Error on the page” appears at the bottom of the window. Does anybody know why I can’t view the project after publishing?

Hi Christine,

Are you publishing to a local folder? If you try to publish to a folder in a network or shared drive, then view the published content, you may encounter some issues with this.

1.  Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.

2. You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).

3.  Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names.

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

Also, after confirming you're publishing to a local folder, can you try to create a new, blank course and see if the same thing happens?

Hi Christine,

1.  Yes, I am publishing to a local drive.

2.  My path is less than 260 characters (C:\Users\cmadden\Documents\My Articulate Projects)

3.  There are no special characters, accents, or symbols in the file names

4.  I created a new, blank course and same thing happens if I choose "Launch player in new window".  Launch button does nothing.
