Viewing course on network drive.

Feb 20, 2013

We do not have an LMS and do not need quiz tracking right now. Can we publish courses to a local drive, and then copy the output files to a shared network server, to allow our internal users to view the course?

Thanks,

Ejuana

Hi Ejuana.  There's the possibility you could run into a couple issues, depending on what features you're using in your course.  It also might work... you'd just need to test it to be sure.  You might encounter Flash security warnings.  And web objects won't display if you're using that feature.

If you can get the files on a web server, it will eliminate the potential problems.  One thing I just discovered yesterday was after copying a course to my shared Dropbox account.  My web objects appeared... so that's another option if you don't have a place to store the files on a web server.

In the end though, the network might work just fine for your needs.  Be sure to have a few folks test it out thoroughly to ensure they don't encounter any problems.

Good luck!

Heather
